Toshiba Portegé G810 Reviews

MobileTechReview has a review of the Toshiba Portegé G810 and writes, “Toshiba doesn’t make many Windows Mobile phones (they were once a large player in the Pocket PC PDA market), but when they do, they go for cutting-edge features and trendy elements. I doubt the touch screen will become unfashionable any time soon, so Toshiba’s bet on a flush screen Windows Mobile Professional phone with touch software was a good one…Verdict? I’ll keep it. It’s not the perfect smartphone, but then there isn’t one out there yet. It does offer a very pleasing combination of style, portability, a great touch screen and a full set of features for the power user: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio and a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus.” Link.

Mad 4 Mobile Phones reviews the Toshiba Portegé G810 and writes, “Toshiba has also included a number of entertainment features. The Portege G810 is designed with stereo a headphone that lets you listen to tunes either through the onboard FM tuner or media player of the phone. There is also a high quality 3 megapixel camera that is complete with micro mirror and the LED flash. It would take pretty decent pictures which are backed up by additional VGA resolution camera located on the front. This front facing camera lets you make 3G video calls when you need…The Toshiba Portege G810 is packed entirely with great technology. The cell phone supports HSDPA during fast downloads and has a decent camera including excellent connectivity with Bluetooth and WI-Fi. However even though Toshiba has effortlessly tried to make Windows mobile operating system to be more user friendly through their own touch sensitive interface the results actually have been turned down.” Link.

CNET UK reviews the Toshiba Portegé and writes, “With the Portege G810, Toshiba is trying to coax smart phone users to go without a trusty stylus. Instead, it wants them to rely on its touch interface that it’s grafted on top of G810’s Windows Mobile OS. It’s a similar tactic to that adopted by HTC with its Touch range of phones — including the HTC Touch Diamond we recently reviewed — but can this £360 handset pull off the same trick?..The G810 is packed full of great technology. It supports HSDPA for speedy downloads, has a decent camera and great connectivity with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. However, although Toshiba has tried its best to make the Windows Mobile operating system more user friendly with its own touchscreen interface, the result falls between two stools. At the end of day, the G810 simply feels like a phone that’s using the wrong OS.” Link.

Trusted Reviews has a review of the Toshiba Portegé G810 and writes, “All in all, nobody who wants an iPhone should be fooled into thinking that the G810 is a serious alternative - in terms of things like ease-of-use, entertainment and Web browsing it’s still several miles behind. On the other hand, it is a decent Windows smartphone with an extremely strong set of features, excellent build quality and a reasonable price. While not exceptional enough to warrant any awards being dished out, it’s still worth auditioning if you want a contract-free smartphone with a touch of extra class…Toshiba’s efforts to make the G810 a credible iPhone rival are only half successful, but as a Windows smartphone it’s a well-built and feature-packed device.” Link.
