Toshiba Portege G710 Reviews

Trusted Reviews has a review of the Toshiba Portege G710 and writes, “So despite a decent software complement - not every Windows Smartphone can boast Office Mobile (though it is the version that bizarrely doesn’t allow you to create new files from scratch) - the Toshiba Portégé G710 is a bit of a disappointment. It really wants to match the big boys from the major marques and does a pretty good job with the most difficult part - the keyboard and navigation controls are excellent…But when it comes to internal specifications, Toshiba has got it all wrong. The phone might cater for the few that are willing to sacrifice battery life and performance for GPS at the right price - at £225 the G710 is relatively cheap for a GPS smartphone - but for everyone else who wants it all in a mobile device, the compromises will simply be too much.” Link.

PC Pro reviews the Toshiba Portege G710 and writes, “Unlike the BlackBerry, you won’t find the Portégé discounted to zero on an 18-month call plan. You pay the full asking price, slip in the SIM of your choice, scroll down to the Settings menu and select the operator: Orange, O2, T-Mobile or Vodafone. It then automatically updates the phone with the relevant settings…And Toshiba certainly does its utmost to justify the £200 asking price. Its skill is making a cheap unit feel and look much more expensive, and there’s no disputing you’re getting a lot of features for your money: IT departments on tight budgets that need all those features should certainly add it to their pool. But it’s not difficult to find compromises under the sleek surface, which means most people will be happier with the slightly uglier, slightly thicker BlackBerry 8820.” Link.

Pocket-lint reviews the Toshiba Portege and writes, “The G710, sitting alongside other competitors in the smartphone arena, just simply doesn’t compete. It just feels like a tool…For business users who want or need Windows Mobile, there are stronger offerings from HTC and HP for example, but you will pay more. Unfortunately it is a world apart from the BlackBerry design that it apes…The exterior almost fools you, but once you get to use the G710, it is a disappointment.” Link.
