Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Reviews
CNET Australia reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and writes, “Under the bonnet is all the major modes of popular mobile connectivity including HSPA (uplink and downlink), Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth including the A2DP stereo protocol. Unlike many Sony Ericsson handsets the X1 supports MicroSD memory expansion, rather than the Sony patented Memory Stick Duo readers we usually find…We’ve been talking iPhone killers for the last 18 months, crossing less impressive phones off our lists as each came and went without making a dent on the Australian mobile landscape. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1 stands a chance to change all of that; forget a dent on the landscape, the X1 looks set to leave a meteoric crater. If the X1 can live up to the hype we’ll be asking if the next generation of iPhone is the X1 killer.” Link.
CNET reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and writes, “Overall, the Xperia X1 was a responsive device. There’s a slight lag when you activate a new panel, and some sluggishness when we had numerous applications open–typical Windows Mobile behavior. No system stalls or crashes, however. Despite the HSDPA support, we found the Web browsing to be a little pokey compared to other smartphones.” Link.
MobileTechReview reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and writes, “It’s fun, it’s cool and it offers very good entertainment possibilities while also being a very good business device thanks to Windows Mobile, the hardware keyboard and push email. The Xperia is perfect for power users and those who like something new and different (courtesy of panels), and it’s priced at the high end where mostly power users tread. If you’re just looking for an affordable Windows Mobile touch screen phone with a single user interface, the Xperia isn’t for you.” Link.
InfoSync reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and writes, “Native panels are the most intriguing part, since they offer Java Micro Edition support and 3D graphics acceleration. The latter aims to ensure smooth graphics performance, but the 3D Fish panel, which was supposed to demonstrate the phone’s graphical prowess, only proved there is still work to be done to take full advantage of the hardware. On the other hand, the Java ME support enables gaming houses like Electronic Arts to roll out gaming titles such as Need for Speed on a Windows Mobile-powered smartphone.” Link.
Pocket-lint reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and writes, “Whilst Sony Ericsson should be commended for some of the details here – the build quality, the 3.5mm jack, cool flashing external lights – the keyboard just doesn’t quite deliver. If you are happy with a Windows Mobile operating system, then the Xperia is certainly one to consider.” Link.
Vnunet reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and writes, “As highlighted at the start of the review, this phone has a lot going for it, but almost every one of its unique selling points seems to contain a fundamental and vital flaw that constantly irks the user…For a phone that sells for around £500 on its own and only goes for free on £50 a month and above contracts, there are just too many hindrances to be able to wholly recommend it.” Link.
