HTC Touch Pro Reviews

3GWeek reviews the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “This handset is a black candy bar with a slide QWERTY keyboard. Just like the stuff SE X1 or HTC own Shift series also has. Anyway, unlike any other, this one comes with five rows keyboard type which gives users an ease while typing numbers. Okay MS Office, I’m ready to go … But wait a second, the back side also has a diamond-cut motif. Just similar like its brother, the Touch Diamond…Just get ready for the price please. Oh yeah, one more thing, I’ll repeat you here, this gadget doesn’t come up with 4 GB internal storage. Well, this is actually not a significant issue for executive that doesn’t carry on a lot of media files. But in case if you are, then get ready to pack up your microSD card with it. Always!” Link.

CNET Austrlia reviews the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “Sitting side-by-side with the Diamond the likeness is uncanny. With a few notable exceptions these phones are identical. The most obvious adjustment is the thickness; the Touch Pro packs an extra 7mm of girth to accommodate a slide-out, five-row QWERTY keypad. As far as we can gather, the Touch Pro will also feature the same on-screen virtual keypad options for those who prefer them, but the option to tap out messages on the mechanical keypad will be a major drawcard for many…HTC has also played the memory shuffle in finalising the specs for the Touch Pro. This newer handset will feature 288MB of RAM as opposed to the Diamond’s 192MB, but will not have the 4GB of internal storage the Diamond has, instead incorporating a microSD card reader that the Diamond is curiously missing. Both these adjustments cement the Touch Pro as being geared towards tech-savvy business users, rather than as an iPhone competitor.” Link.

Pocketnow reviews the HTC Touch Cruise and writes, “If you don’t need the keyboard, and 4GB of memory is enough for you, get the Touch Diamond. It’s much thinner, has fantastic on-screen keyboard options, includes almost identical software to the Touch Pro, and it costs less…With that said, I firmly believe that the HTC Touch Pro is the best business device that money can buy right now. I declared the i-mate Ultimate 9502 the ultimate mobile companion as of May of this year. Today, I declare the HTC Touch Pro the ultimate mobile companion. It’s fantastically well-rounded in terms of features and software, plus it’s elegant and powerful.” Link.

PC Pro reviews the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “HTC’s Touch Pro is clearly a highly capable smartphone. It has a brilliant keyboard, screen, web browser and all the features you could possibly want. It’s lovely to use and an effective pocket computing and communications device. And the keyboard is the best we’ve come across on any Windows Mobile smartphone. In fact if a Windows Mobile device is what you want, you’ll not get much better than this.” Link.

Pocket-lint reviews the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “Adding the keyboard to the HTC Diamond will appease those who liked the interface but didn’t want to get all touchy-feely with it…The keyboard is easy to use, but the cost of adding it has been all too obvious: a considerably bigger device. We also found the sliding mechanism to be a little noisy…That, combined with a keyboard-handset relationship that is lacking at times, means that while this is probably what most people thought they wanted from the Diamond, the reality is that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.” Link.

Trusted Reviews does a review of the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “Though they are similar in so many ways, I feel that the HTC Touch Pro is a much more accomplished phone than the Touch Diamond. It may be thicker and heavier but it provides a much more valid alternative to the iPhone, and that is simply due to its brilliant keyboard…Battery life is disappointing, true, and it’s also expensive - £500 (SIM free) is an awful lot of money whichever way you look at it, and means that you’re unlikely to get it on a reasonably-priced contract (£30 or cheaper) for less than £200. But if you can stomach the high price and must have a phone with a keyboard, the HTC Touch Pro is very hard to beat.” Link.

CNET reviews of the HTC Touch Pro (AT&T) and writes, “The overall look of the device and HTC 3D TouchFlo interface is definitely sophisticated, and there’s plenty of features to keep the mobile professional happy–Windows Mobile 6.1, EV-DO Rev. A, Wi-Fi, GPS, just to name a few things. The Windows Mobile smartphone also expands on the capabilities of the HTC Touch Diamond with a full QWERTY keyboard, an expansion slot, and a couple of extra business tools.” Link.

PC Authority reviews the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “…the Touch Pro is a highly capable smartphone. It has a fantastic screen, web browser and all the features you could possibly want. It’s lovely to use and an effective pocket computing and communications device. Combine all those benefits with the best smartphone keyboard we’ve come across bar the E71 and Bold, and it’s the obvious choice if you need a Windows Mobile-based phone.” Link.

InfoSync reviews of the HTC Touch Pro (Sprint) and writes, “Unfortunately, this didn’t solve many of the problems that we had with the HTC Touch Diamond, and the HTC Touch Pro lags behind the Touch Diamond in performance. In fact, many of the old problems we’ve had with HTC QWERTY-slider phones (like the AT&T Tilt, for instance) and Windows Mobile phones rear their ugly head once again.” Link.

MobileTechReview reviews of the HTC Touch Pro (Sprint) and writes, “One of our favorite PDA and smartphones of 2008, the Touch Pro adds those things we missed on the Diamond: landscape display support everywhere and the QWERTY keyboard. It’s a feature-rich phone with GPS, WiFi, fast EVDO Rev. A, Bluetooth with A2DP and a good autofocus camera. Beyond that, it’s small, sexy and has a wonderful VGA touch screen. It’s so far ahead of the Mogul in terms of look and UI, it’s hard to the call the Touch Pro an update to the Mogul, but if you’ve got a Mogul the Touch Pro will likely impress unless you’re dedicated to the old school Windows Mobile UI and hardware button controls.” Link.

InfoSync does a hands-on review of the HTC Touch Pro and writes, “…with the large, 5-row, full-QWERTY keyboard hiding underneath, this phone is one of the first on the market to combine a truly responsive, compelling all-touch interface with the hardware keyboard option. It even gets a high-end, 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus, and did we mention that VGA screen? Definitely what we like to see on a portable device.” Link.
