BlackBerry Storm 9530 Reviews
Digital Trends reviews the BlackBerry Storm 9530 and writes, “There’s a lot more we could say about the touch interface – RIM has quite a few things to learn here, and the manufacturer seems to be unaware that the hover-and-click approach is very awkward…As is, if the user front-end worked, the Storm would be winning awards for call quality, media support, miscellaneous extras, a high-quality camera and built-in GPS – after all, it is an uber-phone at a decently low price. But know this before taking the plunge: Thumb-punching typists and those expecting an iPhone-caliber experience won’t be pleased, and may decide to accidentally run over it with their Hummer.” Link.
CNET reviews the BlackBerry Storm 9530 and writes, “…The Storm is a faster, better device after the upgrade, including the responsiveness of the accelerometer, and improved battery life. However, the phone still has various bugs and just doesn’t feel quite like final product. There may be subsequent updates that resolve all the problems, but we would have preferred RIM and Verizon waited a while longer to make sure the BlackBerry Storm was stable and solid before releasing the device, even if it meant missing the holiday rush.” Link.
InfoSync reviews the BlackBerry Storm 9530 and writes, “It’s a very similar theme design to what we saw on BlackBerry OS 4.6 on the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. On the BlackBerry Storm, though, the buttons are larger, the menus fonts are sized for fingers and not trackballs, and there seems to be a bit more visual flourish, as if the flashing icons will entice fingertips even better.” Link.
MobileTechReview reviews the BlackBerry Storm 9530 and writes, “We’d like to see less lag, and hope that this will improve with future firmware updates, but overall the Storm is a pleasing and competent phone– if you like RIM’s new touch screen technology. That’s a matter of personal preference: it’s not an easy transition if you’ve become accustomed to non-moving displays. But once you get the hang of it, it works well. Our only complaint is that typing is inherently slower compared to other touch screens when you must press until the display moves and clicks for each keystroke.” Link.
CIO reviews the BlackBerry Storm 9530 and writes, “…the device has already been slammed by a number of high profile gadget reviewers, including the New York Times’ David Pogue, who dubbed the Storm “the BlackBerry Dud.” That’s fine. Opinions are just that: opinions. We’ve all got ‘em. The problem is that Pogue’s review misrepresents the new BlackBerry, which, though far from perfect, shows some real potential—at least in my opinion.” Link.
