BlackBerry Pearl Flip Reviews

Gizmodo reviews the BlackBerry Pearl and writes, “…it’s not a bad phone, at all—compared to the wealth of dumb feature phones out there, it’s exceptional. It’s a full-fledged BlackBerry that delivers great email, solid multimedia, usable web browsing and all of the other trappings of a smartphone, like apps. And it definitely has a quirky kind of personality to it. So, if you’re looking for a smartphone in a tight form factor—or maybe for your teen—this might be what you’re looking for, since the BlackBerry experience remains one of the best.” Link.

The Sydney Morning Herald reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip and writes, “How do you make the most consumer-oriented BlackBerry smartphone even funkier? Turn it into a flip phone. That’s the thinking behind the BlackBerry Pearl Flip, although unlike most clamshell phones the Flip isn’t all that compact. It’s pretty much the same size as the original BlackBerry Pearl 8100 series. The benefit of this is the keyboard and screen are much larger than its predecessor and that is a good thing.” Link.

Digital Trends reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “The whole point of the Flip is this: You get all the features of a Blackberry minus the full keyboard. As such, it proves an excellent phone for those either willing to learn how to use the two-character key typing or who probably won’t be writing any novellas over e-mail anyway. As such, we heartily recommend the Pearl Flip as a stylish phone with ready Wi-Fi connectivity and good battery life. But, to be fair, we would also recommend steering clear of the handset if you need a great camera, tend to type a lot, and/or are worried about getting lost in a big city.” Link.

MobileBurn reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “…while the Pearl Flip 8220 has a great feature set and a pretty large SureType 20 key keypad, it just doesn’t feel as rugged or easy to use as the original Pearl. It’s a decent phone, it just doesn’t seem to be the great messaging phone that the Pearl and Curve models are. With that thought it mind, we give the Pearl Flip 8220 a “Recommended” rating and feel that there will be many people that love the device - just not everybody.” Link.

PC World reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “Overall, Research in Motion has proved that it can design a reasonably functional clamshell for people who want their flip phone and their BlackBerry too. But the BlackBerry’s fan base of heavy corporate e-mail users and other messaging junkies will find the trusty old candy-bar layout plays much better to RIM’s strengths. I wouldn’t expect too many folks to desert their Pearls, Bolds, and (soon) Storms for this model.” Link.

Trusted Reviews reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “On the whole, BlackBerry has done a fine job of squeezing its emailer concept into a flip design. The keyboard is good, the screen is impressive and battery life is top class. It’s only the sluggish browser and lack of 3G support that blot its copy book somewhat.” Link.

InfoSync reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “…the BlackBerry calendar is solid and easy to use, though not quite as powerful as Windows Mobile when paired with an Exchange server. Still, the calendar needs a visual update in a big way, and it’s a shame that the new OS and theme didn’t bring a facelift for the calendar to show off on the gorgeous screen.” Link.

CNET Australia reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “The BlackBerry’s continued push into the mainstream is successful for the most part, with excellent design and good basic phone functionality. It has the components of a media-playing mobile, though its shape isn’t conducive to longer watching video sessions, and the camera is just servicable.” Link.

PC Authority reviews the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 and writes, “Like Nokia, one of the best things BlackBerry has going for it is its simple to use operating interface. Menus are fast and responsive, there’s no stylus or touchscreen to grapple with. As an example, searching via Google loads a specially coded Google interface, rather than loading the Google page via a browser.” Link.
