Toshiba Portégé G500 Reviews

Trusted Reviews has a review of the Toshiba Portégé G500 and writes, “In its press release Toshiba rates the Portégé G500’s battery life as “excellent”. I asked it to play music with its screen forced to stay on and it gave me six hours 50 minutes of life. This is not a total embarrassment, but I’ve seen a lot better and wouldn’t call it “excellent”. For example Samsung’s i600, another Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone with 3G and HSDPA delivered a bit more than nine hours of music. Verdict: The Portégé G500 is a bit on the chunky side, and its use of the now outdated Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system does it no favours. But its firm keys make it easy to use, while the fingerprint sensor could prove very useful to the security conscious.” Link.

TechDigest has a review of the Toshiba Portege G500 smartphone and writes, “The only criticism I could make of the phone was its inexplicable thickness. It’s light and relatively small, but even thicker than my hardly slimline Orange SPV M700. If a phone will be a full 2cm thick, I’d expect it to have a QWERTY keyboard tucked away or similar. The battery case was also a tad flimsy, but since it snapped into place firmly I wouldn’t expect to have any worries on that score. All in all, a solid, respectable and above all usable offering from Toshiba.” Link.

Pocket-lint has a review of the Toshiba G500 and gives it a 4 out of 10 rating: “so its got HSDPA, Wi-Fi, a 2 megapixel camera and that fingerprint scanner, but the design and the now older software make this a phone that won’t impress anyone you show it too. With the smartphone market moving so fast there are plenty of options that are considerably better than this available, from the RIM, HTC, Motorola, Palm and more and we would recommend checking those out over this model.” Link.
