More information about the Nokia N82:

Discover, capture and share
The Nokia N82 enables you to explore your surroundings and find your way with navigation and routing; document your adventures with the high quality imaging capabilities; and instantly share your experiences with one click upload to the web.

Featuring A-GPS, 5 megapixel camera, Xenon flash, Carl Zeiss optics and internet connectivity, the Nokia N82 also incorporates all the multimedia computer features common to Nokia Nseries. Like its predecessor the Nokia N95, the Nokia N82 is the latest epitome of a truly converged device that is not one thing but is many.

“The evolution of camera capabilities in mobile devices has been extremely fast over the past years. With the Nokia N82 we have reached such a superior level in image quality, speed and ease of use that not only does it outperform any other cameraphone on the market, but it’s also a very credible alternative for single purpose digital still cameras,” says Satu Ehrnrooth, head of Nokia Nseries Cameras Category, Multimedia, Nokia. “In addition to the high-end camera, the Nokia N82 also enables you to navigate and discover new places, enjoy your music, browse the web, play games, chat online and be part of the global web 2.0 community wherever you go. Thanks to the wireless broadband connectivity, convergence and yet again increased performance, the Nokia N82 is all you need in your pocket!”

Discover the world
The powerful A-GPS and preinstalled* Nokia Maps help you explore and locate new places, whether in another country or just around the corner. All Nokia N82 standard sales packages come with a free voice guided navigation trial*, and you can purchase additional features, such as city guides and longer subscription to the navigation.

With access to more than 15 million points of interest, you can locate and navigate to the most interesting sights, bars or restaurants wherever you are. You can also send map excerpts and routes to friends by MMS or save map screen shots to the gallery.

Capture your experiences
With a 5 megapixel camera, powerful Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss optics, the Nokia N82 delivers remarkably vivid photographs, even in low-light conditions. Fast camera activation, autofocus with a dedicated autofocus assist lamp, fast reloading between shots and DVD-like quality video capture make it a truly convenient and credible tool for capturing and telling your life stories.

Thanks to the 2GB microSD card in the standard Nokia N82 sales package*, you can store up to 900 high-resolution photos or up to 84 minutes of high quality video on the device.

“The Nokia N82 gives the best ever camera and navigation experience in one stylish premium device. Just imagine what kind of possibilities this will open up and how much richer your every day life experiences can be! The sophisticated design and glossy looks appeal to men and women who are conscious of their style and want to impress with the latest in technology,” Satu Ehrnrooth continues.

Share your stories
With high speed Wi-Fi connectivity and one-click upload to online communities, the Nokia N82 makes sharing your experiences and discoveries easy. When viewing a picture or video, simply one press of a button starts uploading it while you carry on using the device for other purposes.

Or you can impress your friends with multimedia slideshows - complete with music and effects - on the high resolution display or on a compatible TV.

The Nokia N82 comes with the new content driven 3D multimedia menu and includes a convenient orientation sensor that rotates the user interface automatically between horizontal and portrait mode. For quick and easy access to entertainment content, the Nokia N82 also supports the Ovi family of Nokia internet services, including Nokia Music Store, N-Gage games** and Nokia Maps.

The Nokia N82 is available now in key markets with an estimated, pre-tax, unsubsidized sales price of approximately 450 euros.

Nokia will host a virtual launch event today, Wednesday, November 14, 2007 beginning at 2pm Finnish time/1pm CET. You can access the virtual launch event at: www.nseries.com/truestories. The webcast will also be available for view on demand afterwards.

*Sales package contents may vary by market and/or network operator/service provider.
**The N-Gage service is expected to go live later this year.

Nokia N82 Reviews

CNET Australia reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “Like the N95, the N82 is a powerful handset that will certainly appeal to those who want a full-featured mobile phone. In particular, the addition of the Xenon flash will put the handset on par with the Sony Ericsson K850i for camera-phone fanatics. The lack of unique features on the N82 is, however, unlikely to make it compelling enough for N95 users to upgrade.” Link.

CNET UK reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “We’re really torn by this phone because it offers some excellent features while at the same time being rather unsightly — it’s not the kind of gadget that will have your mates green with envy…It’s like chopping up a Ferrari and putting all the pieces into a Ford Ka: it’s not big and it’s not clever. If you’re not bothered by looks and can stand the rice-grain keypad, definitely buy it. If you’re a trendy-haired Hoxton fashionista, steer well clear.” Link.

LetsGoMobile reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “The Nokia N82 is recommended for everybody desiring a mobile phone with an abundance of functions, high-resolution picture taking functionality and who does not care so much about the size of the device.” Link.

Register Hardware reviews the Nokia N82 and writes,”…with the abilities the N82 has to offer, it’s a shame that Nokia hasn’t made its flagship candybar smart in the looks department too. The curious numberpad key design is unnecessarily fiddly, and the overall plasticky look and feel could also put off buyers…Nonetheless, Nokia has produced a remarkable all-round smartphone, a device with stacks of high-end functionality and which delivers a first-class multimedia performance that’s more than skin deep.” Link.

Trusted Reviews has a review of the Nokia N82 and writes, “There is so much to like about the Nokia N82, from its good camera and massive feature set through to its 3.5mm headset connector and TV-out capability, that the handset design feels like a great let-down.” Link.

Pocket-lint reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “This is Nokia packaging its current lineup of phones in a different form factor and adding a Xenon flash rather than offering anything new and improved…Where the phone fails even further is that the repackaged exterior isn’t actually that nice or easy to use either. Like the Sony Ericsson W880 the keys are prickly to use and the overall build quality compared to other handsets in this sector isn’t that great either.” Link.

Trend News reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, ” Priced at $550, the Nokia N82 certainly isn’t the cheapest phone on the block, but its feature set and build quality make it worth the asking price… assuming you need all these features and goodies. Peep the review through the link below. They’ve broken it down into no fewer than 16 sections for your ogling pleasure.” Link.

Gizmodo Australia reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “The camera’s not as good as the N95’s, but it’s still great. Audio quality is good, keypad is “fiddly”, messaging isn’t as good as a BB or a Windows Mobile phone, solid battery life, no US 3G (yet), and good GPS/FM functionality. In the end, it’s up to you whether you can justify a $550 price tag for a non-touchscreen phone without support for 3G in the US.” Link.

The Bangkok Post reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “Depending on which angle you are coming from, if you are upgrading from a N73, then it’s almost a non-decision that the N82 would be the ideal choice. But for current N95 users, it’s a less compelling switch and boils down to a choice of going for a larger LCD screen (N95 8GB) or a more powerful Xenon flash (N82). As a camera-phone, the N82 is on par with the Sony Ericsson K850i Cyber-shot, and, in certain cases, betters it in terms of image quality. But, on the other hand, the K850i has dedicated camera controls that can enhance user experience when shooting. Overall, the N82 is a great all-round phone. Despite some niggles that could have been avoided, we’d still recommend it.” Link.

CNET reviews the Nokia N82 and writes, “The Nokia N82 is just the latest Nokia N series model to come across our desk, and like the rest of the bunch, it’s quite impressive. It has a feature set similar to the Nokia N95, with a couple of additions and omissions. Like the N95, the N82 has a 5-megapixel camera but it also includes a Xenon flash that makes a world of difference, as it produced amazing photos and videos. The Symbian smartphone continues to offer Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, and it’s a solid performer to boot. With all that going for it, it’s really a bummer that the N82 has such a horrible design. The hardware feels a bit cheap, and the navigation buttons leave much to be desired. We’re also disappointed by the lack of U.S. 3G support. All that said, you can work around the design flaws, and if your main focus is getting a high-end multimedia smartphone, the Nokia N82 fits the bill. An unlocked version of the Nokia N82 is available through Nokia’s Web site for $564, though you can probably find it for a bit cheaper with a little online shopping research.” Link.
