Nokia E90 Reviews

My-Symbian has a review of the Nokia E90 and writes, “the E90 is the most powerful Nokia Communicator ever created. Two fully functional screens and one of them of the fantastic 800×352 resolution, not only UMTS but also a 3.6 Mbps HSDPA connectivity, quadband GSM, built-in GPS receiver, fast and powerful OMAP2420 processor running at 330 MHz, 128 MB of RAM memory with almost 80 MB available for the user and providing true and unlimited multitasking, very good 3.2 MPix camera with autofocus providing both great still pictures and TV-quality VGA resolution (640×480 pixels, 25 frames per second) videos, superb keyboard with perfectly shaped keys and very good tactile feedback, high quality materials and superb build quality, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth connectivity, stereo audio with A2DP support for stereo streaming over Bluetooth, good standby and talk times, very good size and tolerable weight, elegant and stylish design…. quite a lot of powerful features for a single device. … the E90 is a truly poweful mobile device, definitely one of the most powerful PDA-phones ever created. What I miss the most is no fax support and I hope that it’ll be added before the device starts shipping. Other than that - a great successor to the 9500/9300(i) family and the flagship Symbian OS device.” Link.

Nokia E90 Communicator Reviews

Mobile-Review has a review of the Nokia E90 and writes, “On the reception front the handset does fine – everything is up to any today’s offerings. In the phone mode you hear what they say on the other end well, but it is a real pain to keep the phone in line with your ear for long sessions, you arm gets tired faster. All in all we have no grips with the E90’s reception quality. The inbuilt silent alert is not particularly strong, so its presence is rather a step towards those who craved for this feature in the past models. When in a belt base, the handset doesn’t produce enough vibration, so you will barely feel it. At the same time, the volume of ring tones is quite sufficient – the E90 notifies you with that equally well both in- and outdoors. … For its potential target audience, Nokia E90 is a very balanced and reasonably priced solution.” Link.

TechShout has a review of the Nokia E90 and writes, “We are giving the big black beast 9.3 out of 10 as we feel that Nokia E90 Communicator is one of the best phones available in the market and it is a steal if you are paying just Rs. 36, 000 for a phone that has two screens and a QWERTY keyboard. We would recommend the E90 not only to higher level executives but also anyone who is an office goer or a B-School student as it would be a nice return on investment.” Link.

MobileTechReview has a review of the Nokia E90 Communicator, here’s their verdict, “A fantastic update to the Communicator line that’s more like a re-birth. While keeping the best of the Communicator line’s inventive and practical ergonomics, the feature set has been raised to the sky. HSDPA will thrill Europeans and quad band EDGE means the phone will work fine in the US as well as anywhere else in the world GSM service is available. WiFi will keep you connected when near an access point and Nokia’s Bluetooth implementation is as usual, excellent. The PIM applications are strong and the Office suite plus Acrobat Reader make for a good mobile office. The web browser is best in its class and the mail application is decent. BlackBerry users will appreciate BlackBerry Connect and the phone’s overall stability is excellent. For the first time, we get good multimedia and an excellent camera in a Communicator, which means down times won’t be dull.” Link.

CNET UK reviews the Nokia E90 and writes, “The E90 is big, bulky and not for the faint-hearted. It’s the kind of phone you could use to defend yourself with in a fight — and win…If you’re a veteran Nokia Communicator or Psion user you’ll definitely appreciate the improved features. If, however, you’re not, and you don’t want a huge handset that won’t fit in your pocket, you’re better off getting a Nokia N95 or a smaller Windows Mobile handset, such as the HTC S710.” Link.

IT Reviews has a review of the Nokia-E90 Communicator and writes, “Today there are Smartphones and PDAs aplenty to choose from. Does the Communicator format still hold appeal?..Certainly if you are looking for a PDA device from a size and weight point of view you should be looking elsewhere, because this is a real beast of a thing. It weighs 210g and measures a massive 132 x 57 x 20mm. But those who choose it are going to be unperturbed by the size and weight because they’ll be selecting on the basis of its built-in screen and keyboard.” Link.

ZDNet reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “The size of the iPhone’s display and the usability of its built-in Web browser make the iPhone the best choice for working with highly visual content (video, Web sites, etc.). But, given the way the E90 overcomes almost all of the major shortcomings of the iPhone and given its relatively robust support for Microsoft Office (great review of that here), the E90’s relative shortcomings in terms of display size and browser usability (it’s not that it’s unusable, it’s just not as good as Safari on the iPhone) may be sacrifices worth making. It’s usage of the faster HSDPA flavor of GSM (which is pretty snappy when you watch the video) can be a plus too for browsing the Web. However, those things said, there’s one other sacrifice that relegates the E90 to the business elite. At bare minimum, an E90 is going to set you back by at least $800.” Link.

CNET Australia reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “The Nokia E90 Communicator has an impressive range of features. The large amount of internal memory available on the phone as well as strong computing performance means it would works well as a smartphone or travelling business device. Coupled with a fast Internet via Wi-Fi or 3G with HSDPA, this phone is a great productivity tool. The PC suite software is intuitive and provides a range or useful options…The stiff buttons and possibly flaky GPS are two minor drawbacks of the E90, and unless you plan to utilise the myriad of features on this phone, it may not be worth its price.” Link.

Wired reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “No, it’s not going to tuck you into bed at night, and we’re guessing it won’t get you chicks either (really though, what gadget does?) but the E90 is definitely a good choice for those who want laptop functionality dressed up in the guise of a cell phone.” Link.

The Washingtonpost reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “With its full complement of business software and multimedia tools, the E90 is almost like a portable office. But even its significant capabilities can’t overcome its unfriendly design and its steep price.” Link.

Nzherald reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “The Communicator will continue to have niche appeal - I don’t expect to suddenly start spotting them in cafes and airport lounges. But if you need to be able to tap out documents, can’t be bothered with a stylus, touch screen or the cramped keyboard of a smartphone or with trundling a laptop around for that matter, the E90 is the perfect mobile productivity tool.” Link.

PC World reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “With its full complement of business software and multimedia tools, the E90 is almost like a portable office. But even its significant capabilities can’t overcome its unfriendly design and its steep price.” Link.

CNET reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “The Nokia E series has gained a reputation as a mean set of power smartphones for business users. Just take a look at the Nokia E61i and the Nokia E65 if you need proof. And now, you’ve got the granddaddy of them all–the mammoth Nokia E90 Communicator. A descendant of the Nokia 9300, the E90 brings solid performance and more features–Wi-Fi, GPS, the latest Symbian operating system, and more–to the corporate customer. That said, we couldn’t help but be disappointed by the lack of 3G support on the E90, and the omission is even tougher to swallow when you realize it will cost you about $1,100 (though you can probably find it for a couple of hundred dollars less online, but still) for an unlocked version of this handset. The Nokia E90 Communicator is a sharp device, but if you’re looking for a comparable and more affordable solution, check out the AT&T Tilt.” Link.

MobileBurn reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes, “It is obvious that the Nokia E90 was never intended as a smartphone for the average person. Think of it like a Leatherman multi-tool rather than one of the pint sized Swiss Army knifes that can be had at a drugstore for a few dollars. This is a big, hulking smartphone that can do almost everything. But there is literally a rather heavy price to pay for that functionality…In short, the E90 is a very solid mobile messaging device that brings a lot of additional functionality to the table. It is neither pretty nor petite, but for somebody that needs everything in one package, it is one of the few options on the market. With that in mind, we give the E90 a “Recommended” rating, but for most people there are other devices, like the BlackBerry Curve, that will better suit them.” Link.
