LG Voyager Reviews
PC Mag reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “The Voyager does a lot of things that the iPhone doesn’t: mobile TV, GPS, video recording—and heck, it runs on Verizon’s network. This handset is still a study in how the rest of the industry can’t quite catch up to Apple’s seamless, easy syncing and interface. But if you chose your network first and it’s Verizon, this is the closest you’ll get to a true mobile revolution for now.” Link.
MobileBurn reviews the Lg Voyager and writes, “Thankfully for LG and Verizon, the Voyager is a very nice multimedia phone. It does music decently, take great photos, and is an outstanding mobile TV platform. The Voyager even offers pretty decent battery life. That makes up for much of what it lacks in business skills. So while I really hate the poor showing it gives in email, I still love the Voyager for everything else it can do. As such, I give it a “Highly Recommended” rating.” Link.
InfoSync reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “In many ways, the LG Voyager is a real iPhone competitor, perhaps even the first touchscreen phone to come close. It has a great video option in V Cast Mobile TV, and, with some setup, the Voyager could even be a good music phone, if you take the time to sideload your own music. The camera was surprisingly good, and auto-focus definitely helped. We even liked the onscreen keyboard, thanks to the Voyager’s haptic feedback, and wished it were used more on the device. There are limitations. The interface, while improved from Verizon’s standard fare, is far from slick, and doesn’t have the graphical flourishes we would have liked to see on such a cool phone. Also, call quality was disappointing, and that’s a downside we can’t ignore. Finally, even with the haptic feedback, there wasn’t one thing on this phone that wowed us or blew us away. But altogether, the whole package is worth a look.” Link.
CNET reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “While some cell phone watchers have hailed the Voyager as the “iPhone killer,” we prefer not to use the expression since it assumes that the iPhone is the device that every other cell phone should be measured against. Also, in many ways the iPhone will always be in a distinct class. But that said, the Voyager VX10000 is one handset that can match–and also surpass–the iPhone in many ways. Wi-Fi is an obvious and disappointing omission, but the Voyager offers many things the iPhone lacks, including 3G support, multimedia messaging, stereo Bluetooth, and an integrated GPS application. It’s too bad that all that lavishness comes at such a high price ($299 with a two-year contract), but if you can afford it, the Voyager won’t let you down.” Link.
CrunchGear reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “The Voyager has come a long way since the VX9800 and improves over the enV thanks to the touchscreen. I could go on and bash the Verizon UI, but I’m tired, have no idea what time zone I’m in and it’s just not worth it. Is the Voyager a good phone? Yes. Is it *gasp* an iPhone killer? Heck if I know…If you’re looking for THE cool phone on Verizon’s network then pick up the Voyager. It’s available today at your local Verizon store.” Link.
Laptop Mag reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “The LG Voyager is a phone, mini TV, messaging device, and GPS navigator all in one. For the price we would have liked to see a smoother browsing experience, but Verizon Wireless customers looking to jump on the touchscreen bandwagon finally have a device to call their own. The Helio Ocean sports more elegant software and is a better messaging device, but if you want to watch high-quality video on the go and you’d like the option to touch or type, the LG Voyager is the better choice.” Link.
Gadget lab reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “One look at the Voyager and you’ll get LG’s message loud and clear: “suck it, iPhone!” From the large 2.8-inch, 400 x 240-pixel touchscreen to the icon-based user interface, the Voyager so readily resembles Apple’s wundergizmo, that you might try activating it with iTunes. Okay, it doesn’t work that way, but it does give the iPhone a legitimate run for its money…So it’s not perfect. Neither is the iPhone though. But if you’re stuck in a contract with Verizon and want a multimedia, touch enabled, iPhone-like device, then taking a ride on the Voyager just might be the best way to go. ” Link.
Digital Trends reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “To get the most out of the Voyager, you’ve really got to use the email, IM, SMS, and mobile TV features. The Voyager has a lot to offer, but we’re not getting rid of our dedicated music player, and PDA fans will find this phone less handy than more sync-friendly models. Compared with the iPhone, the Voyager gives you marginally better call quality, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, and a very finger-friendly keyboard, as well as many of the same features, though it lacks WiFi. It’s not as flashy or slick as the iPhone, but the Voyager is a worthy phone for multimedia junkies and chronic typers.” Link.
PowerPage reviews the LG Voyager and writes, “After a day of play, I realized that the Voyager is a pretty impressive first attempt by LG to create a touch-sensitive phone. It has some obvious drawbacks, but what phone doesn’t? My recommendation for Verizon customers is to not settle with the Voyager if you are eager to have a really innovative cell phone experience. It’s definitely a step up from the other Verizon branded phones, but it isn’t superb which is what one expects when making the transition to a touch-sensitive interface. Hopefully, LG or another company will release a better version with more natural scrolling for Verizon soon.” Link.
