HP iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger Reviews

Trusted Reviews has a review of the HP iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger and writes, “Hewlett Packard has chosen a Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor running at 200MHz. The choice helps prolong battery life, which is an area in which this phone performed really well. I asked it to play music without stopping from a MicroSD card and to keep the screen on all the time. I got eight and a half hours of music in total but worryingly there were no low battery warnings. … Certainly HP has shown with its first Windows Mobile Smartphone that it knows how to construct an easy to use device with some very handy features.” Link.

PCPro has a review of the HP iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger and writes, “Build quality is sturdy, and there’s a distinctly businesslike feel to it. The keys are comfortably rounded and it sits nicely in the hand. We’re happy enough with the 2in active-matrix screen, although the low resolution ruins some of WM6’s new icons. … There’s nothing quite as innovative about the iPAQ 514 as its PDA progenitors, but that’s not to say it’s a bad phone. Its fuss-free ergonomics, strong battery life and the fact it has both Wi-Fi and WM6 onboard make it an excellent choice for those who don’t need a full QWERTY keyboard.” Link.

ITReviews has a review of the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger and writes, “if you want the very latest features all round, then the compromises will put you off. … Although aimed primarily at businesses, the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger might suit anyone who fancies the idea of a Windows Mobile Smartphone but doesn’t need top-notch features all round and wants to avoid being locked into an operator contract.” Link.

Mobile Choice has a review of the HP iPaq 514 and they write, “With Wi-Fi built-in as well as Bluetooth, you can use the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger for Voice over IP (VoIP) and HP is also pushing the smartphone for offices that have IP-based phone systems. Handy, as you don’t need to be at your desk to take a call…Now, you won’t be happy with the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger if you’re a 3G fan, or if you need a powerful camera with your device, as the one here is just 1.3 megapixels…However, the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger is a good value for money smartphone and one of the first to run Windows Mobile 6.” Link.

CNET UK reviews the HP iPaq and writes, “The iPAQ 514 is a pretty average handset in most regards, and it certainly doesn’t try to break any new ground. However, it’s been designed for business folk and on that front it scores reasonably well thanks to its sturdy build quality and excellent battery life. The inclusion of Windows Mobile 6 and onboard Wi-Fi don’t harm its cause either.” Link.

LetsGoMobile reviews the HO iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger and writes, ” A lthough HP had to compromise with equipping the HP iPAQ 514; we can say that it is a business mobile phone with enhanced functions. The price of the device is just as attractive as its functionalities. Despite its many functions and the attractive price tag, we think some points need improvement. HP would do a great job as to equip the device with 3G for the business man who is always on the road. HP compromised in installing Wi-Fi but since you cannot always use a Wi-Fi connection; 3G would be the solution. The camera is of low quality and integrating a digital camera with at least two Megapixels would already improve the image quality. A monitor a tad bigger in size and the included higher resolution would also help. You’d have to scroll less when viewing web pages. Although the HP 514 has been made of plastic, it has a solid feel. In short, HP haven’t started a revolution in the mobile business world but more on the pricing level of such a device. The HP iPAQ is recommendable for users wanting to receive email and read attachments while travelling, but not requiring a large monitor, a fast 3G and a high resolution camera.” Link.
