HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger Review
LaptopMag has a review of the HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger and writes, “Regular calls sounded pretty good on the handset. Everyone we talked to sounded clear and natural. People on the other end of the line said we sounded good for the most part, but one person said we sounded tinny. When we talked through the included stereo earphones, listeners said they heard no difference between that and the handset, but on our end, callers sounded much deeper and less natural. Music sounded okay when played through the handset, though it wasn’t very loud. Your best bet is to pair the iPAQ 510 with stereo Bluetooth headphones. The HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger is a solid phone for people who like the idea of having Outlook in their pocket but don’t need a QWERTY keyboard. HP does a nice job of not only incorporating the Windows Mobile 6 OS but improving upon it as well. If you have your heart set on a high-performing Voice Commander functionality, though, you might want to wait for round two before spending $300.” Link.
CNET has a review of the HP iPaq 510 Voice Messenger and writes, “Overall, the iPaq 510 offered swift performance. Whether we were working on Office documents, activating the camera, or performing other tasks, the device was always responsive. Web browsing was also great. Pages loaded within seconds, and the new Favorites and History listing was quite convenient. The multimedia experience was lacking, however. Music playback through the phone’s speakers was awful. Video performance was OK, but the screen was really too small to enjoy anything beyond a minute.” Link.
SiliconRepublic has a review of the iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger and writes, “The nice thing about the iPAQ 510 is that there really isn’t a learning curve needed. Switch it on and away you go. The device comes with Microsoft’s Windows for Mobile 6.0 and is designed to work seamlessly with Exchange Server in mind. … The iPAQ 510 comes in a smart but slightly dated chassis and my one real regret about the device is the screen size: It’s too small and makes browsing problematic.” Link.
MobilitySite reviews the iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger and writes, “Voice Messenger can best be described as a close cousin to Microsoft’s Voice Command. Voice Command offers more customizability–for example, I had previously configured Voice Command to read aloud high priority e-mails as they arrive on my Dash. Voice Messenger can only read e-mails when requested. On the other hand, so far I prefer Voice Messenger. I especially like the ability to reply to an email with an audio response…I’ve only had the IPAQ 510 for a few weeks, so there is a lot more experimentation/exploration to do. However, so far I am pleased with my decision.” Link.
