BlackBerry Curve 8310 Reviews
Pocket-link reviews the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and writes, “What more could we want, well 3G and Wi-Fi of course, and there are already rumours of a Curve 8320 with both heading our way, but until that appears, this will be worth the upgrade for current Curve users if you are always finding yourself lost.” Link.
New Zealand PC World reviews the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and writes, “I know the BlackBerry Pearl has proved popular, with its more cellphone-style form-factor and keypad. But the BlackBerry’s raison d’etre remains its push email-function (synching your PC’s email and calendar with your hand-held in real-time) and for writing email I prefer the Curve’s full QWERTY keyboard. The Curve 8310 does make some concession to consumer-dom, however, with the addition of a 2 megapixel camera (something notably absent from the business-mind BlackBerry family until the advent of the Pearl).” Link.
CNET reviews the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and writes, “The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 keeps the same sleek design and robust messaging capabilities of its predecessor, but then adds GPS capabilities. The ability to use your smartphone as a navigation device is particularly useful for mobile professionals who are constantly on the road, running to meetings or traveling for business trips. And we found it to be quite the capable navigator during our road tests using the TeleNav GPS Navigator service. The tradeoff is that for the GPS, you give up integrated Wi-Fi, which is what T-Mobile opted for in the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320 (we know–we want both, too) and there’s no 3G support yet. For this review, we chose to concentrate on the features and performance of the device; for more details on the phone’s design, please check our review of the original Curve. The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 is available now from AT&T for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after rebates, in either red or titanium.” Link.
PC Mag reviews the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and writes, “The BlackBerry 8310 Curve is an excellent value at $199 with a two-year contract. The Curve may lack the Motorola Q9h’s built-in document editing and high-speed data radio, but superior e-mail handling, a responsive OS, and a sleeker design make the Curve a great alternative. The 8310’s 2-megapixel camera is also a good reason to skip the BlackBerry 8800, especially now that the 8310 includes GPS, the 8800’s original draw. Since AT&T is iPhone country, it’s worth noting that the Curve 8310 is a better messaging device and voice phone than Apple’s first phone. Power users in the Microsoft camp who require 3G should look at the powerhouse AT&T Tilt or Q9h, and iTunes and video fans should naturally check out the iPhone. For just about anyone else, the BlackBerry Curve 8310 is a top-flight pick.” Link.
CNET Australia reviews the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and writes, “The Curve 8310 is a good enough smartphone for business users that occasionally need GPS, but it left us wanting more: a faster processor, 3G support (with HSDPA, of course) and Wi-Fi. It’s only a matter of time before we expect this wish list to come to fruition — RIM’s announced it’s releasing a BlackBerry on Telstra’s Next G network early next year. But even if RIM comes out with such a BlackBerry by then, it will also be going head-to-head with the Apple iPhone due for release next year, which is rumoured to be a 3G version once it arrives Down Under.” Link.
CNET UK reviews the BlackBerry Curve 8310 and writes, “We wouldn’t necessarily choose the 8310, available for free on a £30 a month contract with Vodafone, over a dedicated GPS unit for navigation duties and the lack of 3G and Wi-Fi support is disappointing, but the 8310’s slim design, full Qwerty keyboard and top class email features mean it’s still an impressive messaging device.” Link.
