Nokia N93 Reviews
Mobile-Review has a review of the Nokia N93 and writes, “This handset has no problems with signal reception, voice of interlocutor is clear, just like your own. Volume of 64-tone polyphonic ring tone is average, but in case you choose mp3 file as ring tone, polyphony does not matter that much. Vibrating alert is slightly lower than average, sometimes you may miss a call due to that. … One of unusual moments is presence of preinstalled software that can work with office documents, including QuickOffice, this is one of the best applications for Symbian. … The disappointing things are: limitation in Dictaphone – 1 minute, it looks anachronistic today. Another disadvantage is size of the device, it’s too big. But this is due to camera module, and other parts of device too. … Except for these insignificant drawbacks, this device has no special problems, platform on which everything is built is pretty well-spread and reliable.” Link.
Infosync has a review up of the Nokia N93 and writes, “Suffering from a few teething problems in the software department, the Nokia N93 is undoubtedly capable of shooting high-quality stills and truly outstanding video - as well it should, being built like a brick house. First-rate calling and messaging capabilities are also on the slate along with a boatload of additional features, but unless you’re willing to sacrifice portability for the ultimate in imaging there are better balanced options to be had.” Link.
3G has a review of the Nokia N93 and writes, “It is very hard for us to make our mind up about the N93. It is no substitute for a dedicated digital video camera, but as a video shooting phone none of the competition comes near it. Its other features are plentiful and impressive – we’ve not been able to run through them all here, but it is one heck of a size and with the handset fully opened to make voicecalls it feels like something from the 1980s. A fair conclusion would be that as a showcase the N93 is impressive, while as an everyday phone it is probably too much for many people to carry around.” Link.
Trusted Reviews has a review up of the Nokia N93 and writes, “It is the video recording that steals the show with the N93, but there a price to pay. Most noticeable is the handset’s size and weight. At 180g you are going to be carrying a phone that is double the weight of some of the smallest and neatest handsets around. And at 28.2 mm thick and 55.5 mm wide you are going to need big pockets - this is a PDA sized phone. … Video and stills shooting are clearly the N93’s main selling points, but there is a lot more going on here thanks to Symbian S60 v3. It is a great shame the N93 is such a beast for the pocket and has so little internal and provided memory. If Nokia could squeeze the overall hardware size down, the N93 would be very desirable indeed. As it is, it is just too bulky to be a main handset, and too.” Link.
CNET has a review up of the Nokia N93 and writes, “We tested the triband (GSM 900/1800/1900; EDGE) Nokia N93 in San Francisco using Cingular’s service, and call quality was a mixed bag. … The N93 performed its other duties admirably. Music playback was respectable, although listening to tracks through the built-in speakers on front of the device sounded a bit blown out. Plugging in the included earbuds helped. Watching videos on the handset was also OK. … Browsing the Web on the N93 was great, as pages loaded quickly, and we didn’t experience any great delays when switching between apps, as has been the case with other N-series devices. … Though it won’t replace your digital camcorder or camera, the powerful Nokia N93 does a respectable job of integrating quality multimedia capabilities into a cell phone. That said, it’s a bulky handset and is best suited for convergence fanatics and gadget hounds.” Link.
LetsGoDigital has a review up of the Nokia N93 and writes, “The Nokia N93 is not the most compact mobile phone to take with you. Due to it’s somewhat bigger size and it’s rather high weight a bag would be handy to carry it around in. Or you make sure a sturdy trouser or inside pocket are available. It is not a mobile phone designed for the compact mobile phone enthusiast. The built-in camera of the Nokia N93 is a certain step towards quality. … One of the biggest plusses is the battery power, making extended work with the phone possible. The screen is ideal, well organised and practical in use. Summarized, the out of the ordinary Nokia N93 features a lot of interesting functions and despite the above downsides remains a recommendation.” Link.
PDAStreet has a review up of the Nokia N93 and writes:”The Nokia N93 is the technophile’s answer to the Motorola SLVR or LG Chocolate-thin fashion phones that look great but don’t offer much in the way of features. That’s because the N93 is a big, chunky phone, with a novel way of working and an impressive list of features. If you can put up with its size and heft, you’ll find it useful for far more that just making calls. … In a market full of thin, underpowered phones, it’s a pleasure to find one that’s genuinely useful in a variety of ways. It’s pricier and larger than most people will want, but we think it will find an audience with people who appreciate its power and versatility.” Link.
Gadgetell has a review of the Nokia N93, and likes the phone very much, concluding, “A great phone, not meant for the average user - but certainly would not displease the average user. It packs a punch and if you’re not one to care about features then this is not for you. The price my seem extreme but if you were to take an iPod video roughly priced at $250.00, and 3.0 megapixel camera roughly priced at $200.00 and a Sony Handy-cam roughly priced at $500.00, this phone is actually a bargain. If this phone was a celebrity It would be a mix between Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg. It doesn’t have the looks but its certainly packs the brains as well as the creative muscle.” Link.
MobileBurn has a review of the Nokia N93 and concludes, “The Nokia N93 is a fantastic phone, and apart from the slow camera UI, I really have nothing much to complain about. Although some might be put off by the sheer size and bulk of this behemoth, those who don’t mind it will find the N93 a truly capable imaging phone. With 3G and WiFi connectivity, the N93 is definitely the all-in-one smartphone to get. I have no qualms in giving this phone a Highly Recommended rating, but if you feel that the price tag is too steep, and you don’t need all the bulk and connectivity, you might want to take a look at the Sony Ericsson K800i or K790i.” Link.
DigitalTrends has a review up of the Nokia N93 and concludes, “The N93’s performance is exemplary on almost all counts. On the phone front, sound quality is about a B+; a little thin, but clear with plenty of volume. The problem is that the earpiece has to be precisely placed on your lobe for optimum clarity. … In many ways, the Nokia N93 is the first cell phone of the 21st century. It is likely that as the decade proceeds, there will be equally or even more extensively equipped cell phones that will be less bulky and less expensive. But until these phones appear, the Nokia N93 stands out as the best-equipped cell phone available.” Link.
PCAdvisor has a review of the Nokia N93 and writes, “For all its good points, this is a big brute of a mobile, and the mechanics of the swivel screen (which is excellent for taking pictures and videos) make placing calls a chore. … The Nokia N93 does just about everything, and doesn’t compromise on any of the features. The quality of the digital stills and camcorder footage is outstanding and there’s no faulting the feature set. It’s a large, clumsy beast, though, which is something of a faux pas in a mobile phone.” Link.
GadgetNutz has a review of the Nokia N93/N93i and writes, “The N93 is a true enthusiast’s phone; it’s this group that will look mostly overlook function over style. And the N93 truly is function first, while the N93i goes in the right direction to do something about the styling factor. Both offers the best Video recording quality in the mobile world with no apparent competitors. In the picture taking department botht has to bow down for the lightly better N73/K800. But seeing that these are just marginally better, while the N93 offers exceptional video quality I would choose the N93/i as the overall winner. One of the N93/i strongest feature is the ability to add more features through the use Symbian with the S60 platform. The features and specs of the N93/i models is just impressive having almost every feature imaginable leaving only GPS and HSDPA for the upcoming N95. Impressive though that not even the mighty N95 sports the 3x optical zoom (and maybe not even stereo audio recording.)” Link.
MeriNews has a review of the Nokia N93 and writes, “The Nokia N93 is a fantastic multimedia computer with a few faults. Most of the faults lie in the construction of the phone. … The N93 responds very quickly and opens files quite fast in my opinion (I have over 280 full length songs stored on my memory card and the N93 opens my sounds folder quick enough for me). Connectivity is quite good with nearly all methods of connectivity implemented and easy (except for the home network) to pair with devices as well as connecting via Wi-fi. The TV out can be entertaining.” Link.
