CrunchGear reviews the Samsung SC-MX20 and writes, “It strips down some features that may not be necessary in the first place – high definition video, still photos, etc. – but adds something that most less expensive flash camcorders don’t have: an optical zoom. A big optical zoom, too, at 34x. That, coupled with long battery life, user-friendly codec support, and relatively low price make the SC-MX20 a winner…The Samsung SC-MX20 is now my go-to camcorder. The size, quality, battery life, and low price make it hard to pass up. I can whole-heartedly recommend this camcorder if you’re looking for an inexpensive video camera that (unlike most other inexpensive camcorders) shoots great video and has an optical zoom.” Link.
CNET UK does a hands on review of the Samsung SC-MX20 and writes, “The camcorder is certainly small, nestling in the palm of the hand like a can of Coke, or rather, generic discount cola. The flip-out screen measures 69mm (2.7-inch) corner-to-corner. The Schneider-Kreuznach lens is protected by a manual lens cover, which is annoying because we always forget about it. But we do like the swivelling hand grip, which allows you to hold the camcorder every which way…In these credit-crunched times, of course, the big question is the price. The good news is even an Icelander could afford one at £169, which almost gives the budget likes of the Flip Video a run for their money.” Link.
Camcorderinfo reviews the Samsung SC-MX20 and writes, “Unfortunately, The MX20 has poor color and plenty of noise and compression artifacting—certainly more than the competition. And it’s not much of a champ in low light either…But in the YouTube line of business, video performance isn’t everything. If you plan to upload most of your footage to the web, you’re not likely to see much of a difference between the SC-MX20 and comparable models from Canon or JVC.” Link.
