Camcorderinfo reviews the Canon VIXIA HF11 and writes, “The Canon Vixia HF11 did not offer any surprises, even when we were expecting it to. It’s still a rock solid camcorder, firmly planted in the roots of its predecessor, the Canon HF10, which was released only eight months ago. The shiny new feature—a 24Mbps bitrate—did not seem to add much to the already great performance. It’s the cherry on top of the sundae—not really necessary, but a nice touch…On behalf of the nerd community, we have to express both excitement and disappointment regarding this. The fact that Canon is the first manufacturer to hit the maximum bit rate for the AVCHD spec on a consumer camcorder is great news. In doing so, it forces the rest of the industry to stop dragging its feet and catch up. A rising tide lifts all ships, so to speak. On the downside, the increased bitrate didn’t really do much. If you look… we mean really look… you can see some decrease in the compression artifacting, but it takes an eagle eye.” Link.
CNET reviews the Canon VIXIA HF11 and writes, “An excellent choice for flash-based HD recording, the HF11 gives the CX7 a close run for the money–we’ve yet to review the CX12–and is a clear champion if you don’t like the Sony’s touch-screen interface. But then the real question becomes which model is the better deal: the Vixia HF11, HF10, or HF100. The HF10, which has the attractive black body (over the HF100) and can be found for well under $1,000, gets my vote. You can pick up an extra 16GB card for a 32GB total for less than the price difference, and I’m not sold on the value of the higher bit rate, at least not in this implementation.” Link.

But giving consumers 32GB of internal memory and even the smallest improvement to an already stellar performance, the HF11 is a very strong contender.” Link.
CNET Australia reviews the Canon VIXIA HF11 and writes, “The HF11 is a high definition flash memory-based camcorder, with support for SDHC cards. It ships with an 8GB card, but also features 32GB of on-board memory. That’s an upgrade from the HF10, which featured 16GB of on-board storage. While most home videographers could well do to learn that less is more when it comes to shooting video, it’s nice to have that much storage on hand… If its shape suits your taste in camcorders, then Canon’s HF11 is the first flash memory-based high-def camcorder we’ve tested with the quality and the capacity to mix it with the hard-disk boys.” Link.
Trusted Reviews does a review the Canon VIXIA HF11 and writes, “…The greater data rate and extra memory are welcome, making a great camcorder even greater. However, the HF11 is currently priced at £800, where its direct predecessor can now be had for under £600, and its SDHC-only sibling the HF100 for closer to £500. Unfortunately, the HF11 isn’t £250 better than the HF10. So until the HF11’s price goes down, or the HF10 and HF100 are withdrawn from sale, it will remain a great camcorder but not as good value as its predecessors.” Link.
