Toronto Film Race 2007
The Film Racing 2007 Tour will be coming to Toronto on Saturday, July 7, 2007. Filmmakers will be challenged to create an original short film in just 12 hours, from noon to midnight.
What is Film Racing?
Film Racing is a nationwide competition that challenges filmmakers to create original short films in just 12 hours, from noon to midnight.
In each city, teams meet at noon at a predetermined location and receive a theme and surprise element assignment for their films. Examples of past themes are “Revenge”, “Bad Advice” and “Spare Change”. The plot of the film must revolve around the theme. The surprise element can be a prop (ex. toothbrush), a line of dialogue which must be spoken by a character in the film (ex. “Get out of my face!”) or an action which must be performed in the film (ex. a slap).
The filmmakers must write, shoot, edit and score an original film no longer than 4 minutes based on their theme and surprise element assignment. The films are due back at the theme announcement location by midnight and all the films are screened for the public at a local theater a few days later. After the screenings, the top films from each city are streamed for viewing at FilmRacing.
