Trusted Reviews has a review of the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 and writes, “Sanyo is to be commended for another bold attempt to unify the differing needs of camcorder and digital camera users. However, it still doesn’t quite pull it off. The VPC-HD1000 is an impressive device and you’re sure to evoke admiring glances when you whip it out in public. But the video quality is below that of HD camcorders from the big brands, and a sub-£200 pocket camera from the likes of Canon or Panasonic will beat its still images. So, yet again, the Xacti is a reasonable jack of two trades, but not quite master enough of either.” Link.
PC Pro reviews the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 and writes, “It’s easy to find fault with the HD1000’s video quality when held up against Panasonic’s HDC-SD5EG-K (web ID: 137343). But at £400, you get a lot of features for your money. So, while it’s neither an outstanding HD camcorder or a particularly high-end digital camera, it’s a tempting gadget.” Link.
The Edmonton Journal reviews the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 and writes, “The HD1000, Sanyo’s newest addition to a long string of industry-first small camcorders, is sharp and clear to a fault. Viewing its HD videos on a large TV screen is as impressive as the best Blu-ray movies and the still photos are as sharp as any digital camera made today. The buttons are minimal and larger with an easy-to-use menu that remembers where you last were for easy adjustments. You can quickly switch from video to still-picture mode and also take smaller album-size photos while recording video. It records directly on commonly available SD/SDHC memory cards. The camera can play back slide shows, organize albums and even let you clip the ends off videos.” Link.
Good Gear Guide reviews the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 and writes, “What makes a camcorder perfect? Ideally, a model should come equipped with a host of useful additional features; including impressive still image capabilities and extensive manual adjustments. It should look sleek and attractive, be easy to handle, and preferably have a snappy sounding name. It should also combine all these elements into a cost-effective package that won’t break your bank account…Once you have exhausted your SD card’s capacity you have two options: put in another SD card, or transfer your video to a PC. Thankfully, the unit’s docking station makes data transfer very easy, with an included HDMI port for high-def playback.” Link.
PC Authority reviews the Sanyo Xacti HD1000 and writes, “Image stabilisation was less impressive, and is the HD1000’s only real weakness – but it still matched the Canons’ performance in this area. In fact, we were very impressed with the HD1000 all round. It may not boast the best image quality, nor the most competent image stabilisation, but it comes close enough at an excellent price. And that combination earns it a well-deserved Recommended award.” Link.
