Ulead VideoStudio 10 Plus Reviews
PCMag has a review of the Ulead VideoStudio 10 Plus, and is impressed enough with its features to give it an Editor’s Choice, writing, “Though Ulead’s VideoStudio isn’t the best pure video editor in its class, it’s quite capable, and no tool converts DV tapes to DVD faster. More important, none can edit HDV more quickly. In fact, many apps have no HDV support at all. Throw in a cool new DVD menu paradigm and you’ve got a product worth considering. In fact, these extra abilities push VideoStudio over the top, making it an Editors’ Choice in addition to Adobe Premiere Elements. … Overall, VideoStudio hasn’t persuaded me to uninstall Premiere Elements, but its impressive HDV abilities have persuaded me to leave both on my system.”
Earlier this month, IT Reviews reviewed the Ulead VideoStudio 10 Plus and wrote, “it’s breathtakingly easy to apply good effects and transitions, and it’s breathtakingly easy to over-use them to the point of wrecking your production. Responsibility for the latter lies with the user, of course, and you’d be hard pushed to pin the blame on Ulead for providing an excellent selection of tools in the first place! Previews are done quickly, so there’s little trouble checking out your work as you go along. When you’re finally finished with your project, yet more praise needs to be directed at VideoStudio. The output options are great, and with the DVD creation tools at your fingertips, there’s an awful lot to admire.” Verdict? “A terrific piece of video editing software, with only the odd problem to slightly temper the celebratory mood of the party.”
MacNewsWorld has a review up of Ulead’s VideoStudio 10 and writes, “Trimming clips was such a transparent process that I got the feeling I was doing something wrong. You click a clip. It appears in the preview window. To trim from the beginning, you grab a control on the left of a slider bar under the window and move it right. To trim from the end, you grab the control on the right and slide it left. Nothing could be simpler. … As a standalone video editor for consumers on a PC, VideoStudio is the best that I’ve seen. It’s a good buy whether you want to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty with the details or just want to create a project with some pizzazz in a few clicks.”
PC Authority has a review up of Ulead’s VideoStudio 10 and writes, “The tenth incarnation of Ulead’s entry-level editing app is a significant step. Following Pinnacle’s strategy, there are now two editions – a basic one and a new Plus version costing $43 more. As with Pinnacle Studio (Issue 103, page 30), most of the best new features are reserved for the Plus edition. … The Plus edition has remarkable editing power for under $150 and, while the standard version doesn’t feel like a huge step forward, it’s still a worthy contender. Adobe’s Premiere Elements 2 still offers a more finely honed toolset for multitrack editing, but most will find VideoStudio easier to use. Although the standard version remains superb value, we recommend VideoStudio 10 Plus as the better deal.”
