Hitachi DZ-GX3300A Reviews
CNET has a review of the Hitachi DZ-GX3300A and writes, “Similar to last year’s DZ-GX20A, the Hitachi DZ-GX3300A’s video quality is about what you’d expect from a midpriced MiniDV camcorder. At low compression, video was sharp with some motion artifacts and edge crawl, along with a bit of blooming. At higher compression levels, banding showed up more often in areas with significant gradations in brightness. Overall, the DZ-GX3300A, with its higher megapixel count, was a touch sharper than its siblings, the Hitachi DZ-GX3200A and the Hitachi DZ-GX3100A. Colors, though accurate, were sometimes oversaturated. … The Hitachi DZ-GX3300A’s still images were impressive for a camcorder, though the auto white balance produced extremely warm results with our lab’s tungsten lights.”
PCMag has a review of the Hitachi DZ GX3300A and writes, “In my hands-on tests, the DZGX3300A just wasn’t as good as other miniDVD camcorders. For starters, it produced video with a slight reddish cast. The autofocus worked fine and the sound was pretty good, but I did notice some shimmering in my talking-head clip. … When measured against the Sony DVD505 or even the Canon DC40, the Hitachi DZGX3300A just comes up a little short, offering none of the DVD505’s quality and nothing like the DC40’s slim shape and still-picture capabilities. In the end, it’s a camcorder behind its time. … There’s just nothing that makes the Hitachi DZGX3300A stand out in today’s highly competitive consumer camcorder market.”
