Canon Elura 100 MiniDV Camcorder Reviews

InfoWorld has a review up of the Canon Elura 100 and writes, “the video quality was a little disappointing. In tests with studio lighting, we saw video that had reasonable detail but lacked vivid colors. Bright colors looked washed out, and subtle color differences were difficult to distinguish. In low light, problems were even more obvious, with some colors almost vanishing in a gray haze. … The Canon Elura 100 is a good choice for budget shooters; although the image quality isn’t great, it’s a compact, easy-to-use camera that won’t confuse novice filmmakers.” Link.

Videomaker
has a review of the Canon Elura 100 Mini DV camcorder and writes, “The Canon Elura 100 is right on par with its image quality. It’s nice to see a 1/5″ CCD at this price point and not the 1/6″ variety. We also appreciate the 20x optical zoom lens, which is held fairly steady with the electronic image stabilizer. The Elura 100 reproduces warm colors vividly without too much over-saturation in the reds. We noticed some problems with the Canon Elura 100 losing a little bit of detail in the shadows and, in rare instances, some bad vertical smearing in strange lighting conditions. For the most part, you probably won’t be affected by the problems often enough to even notice they exist. But they do exist and it’s common among consumer camcorders. … The Canon Elura 100 is a simple, lightweight and handy little machine capable of making it through your casual shooting paces and lifestyle.” Link.
